Where is the "patch" for HL2?

Wrong forum but patches are automatically applied by Steam.

But perhaps this is not the type of "patch" you mean ?
 
shutdown steam

start it again, steam will update itself

then, right click on Half Life 2 under Play Games and make sure it is setup to always keep this game up to date, then start Half Life 2, it will auto update for you
