Where do YOU put your standalone programs/utilities?

Windows doesn't have a bin folder. So, where do YOU put standalone programs or zipped up programs that don't need installers? Do you put them in Program Files, the C root directory, My Documents? Do you create shortcuts on the desktop or start menu?

Most of the time I just run them from the Downloads directory because I haven't bothered moving them. Right now I have some put in Program Files, and with UAC, means I have to modify the permissions. Previously, I used Users/Public. I don't like the idea of junking up the root folder.

I keep them in my Downloads folder and shortcut to desktop.

Program Files (x86) or Program Files, then I make a shortcut to them

I try to use as much portable software as I can. All of it goes in d:\apps. That way if I ever need to reinstall Windows, that only affects the c: drive.

I have a utils folder on a non-system partition and I keep adding to it.

On a side note -- if you like the idea of a bin folder, why not just create one and add it the path?

Usually, I put them in specilized folders so I can find them easily in the future. Games on D:\Games, utility programs in D:\Utilities. Only exception is for single file .exe's, which go right on the Desktop.

I use 'em and trash 'em.
Keep the zips on my storage drive, pull from when needed.

I think the only few apps I use that are zipped/not installed are usually benchmark-esque stuff only (CPU-Z, CoreTemp, IBT etc). Once those are used a few times initially, I don't need them anymore (unless it's a new build or a part change).

If it's just an exe like u torrent, root c. Otherwise I make a folder for it in Program Files and plop a shortcut in my start menu

Folder on secondary drive called, oddly enough, Stand-Alone Utilities.

i got a drive with all my apps, isos and such on them sorted by type

00. Files
-- 01. internet
-- 02. Aud-Vid
-- 03. Gfx

et cetera.

Put them in a folder in my Google Drive, and put a shortcut to the directory on my taskbar.
