Looking through the webmaster and programming forum, and a lot of topics disappear after a time. Why is this? It's a shame if its done on purpose, as a lot of information is lost, and if they stay there then it might stop reposts?
 
Check your display options down at the bottom of the page for the forum you are in. Show threads may be set ot just one day. You can change it to show all active threads from your preference of month, year, etc.
 
What odoe said. The default here is set to show only threads active in the last day.

If you want a more permanent solution you can go into your user control panel | edit options | thread display options | default thread age cut off and change it from "use forum default" to whatever you prefer. This will, however, affect the display in all forums, so if you were to set it to "show all threads" it will affect page load times for you, especially in some of the busier forums.
