This is my first SFF build. I'm planning on a WHS box with a lot of storage.

I really like this case: http://www.chyangfun.com/pro02_1_8.asp

Sort of decked out the way I'd want, I'd put the display at the bottom so an ITX board could fit:

Basically, it would be a WHS version of this build: http://www.lundman.net/gallery/v/lraid5/?g2_page=1

I love the way this thing looks.

Anyways, I've seen this type of case floating around under other brands, such as Addonics. http://www.addonics.com/products/raid_system/ast4.asp

Addonics doesn't sell one that's ITX compatible (rear I/O cut out is too large). Has anyone seen an ITX version of this case (in black) under any other brands?

It kinda reminds me of the Fragbox Falcon Northwest had. Which Silverstone made for them. Did you contact the company to see where they may be sold?

Yeah, they said they didn't know who sold the black one and offered to sell me the silver one directly. Although I think they only sell in bulk to resellers.

I also called Addonics because they sell a black one with no components inside, but they do not sell an itx compatible version.

Hopefully I'll find the one this guy bought: http://www.lundman.net/gallery/v/lraid5/?g2_page=1

I found some various threads on other forums with people complaining that they can't find one either lol. Seems like there's definitely some pent up demand for a case like this.

i've seen these before, and some of them were modded to contain that disk hotswap chassis. they weren't built like that.

curious to know if you ever did find a retailer for that case?

Check out the Thermaltake Lanbox VF1000BWS Gaming Cube case, almost identical and you can easily add a litle LCD to it... its not for sale though anymore but there is pics there and the model number if you want to contact thermaltake. They seem to have updated the case of the lanbox now, and it looks a lot different then the case you're looking for. If not, try to find a store that carries the older model

Yeah I tried both of those. The places in New Zealand won't ship to the US and the UK store doesn't carry the black version.

I finally did find a retailer after about a week of hunting and looking through a ton of random hardware websites. Couldn't find it with a search engine because they call it a Qbox......

Very pricey for a case so small, but I got what I wanted without having to do any modding (the cut outs on the lower half of the drive cage come that way).

Pic from that build I found online.

They seem to be the only place in the US that sells a version that comes ready for an ITX mobo (Proper I/O plate size and mobo standoffs pre-installed)

It is definitely an S40X case based on the box markings. The differences from most others are that this one comes with acrylic on both the front and the sides (I may remove it) and it also has large vents on the sides for cooling (a plus for me).

I thought I mentioned that the S40X is made by Chyangfun.com on my wiki http://lundman.net/wiki/index.php/ZFS_RAID ? Came to about 9,500 yen all up. I contacted them directly to buy one, although, I am not sure that is something they usually do. They really need a "Where to buy" on their WWW.

Although when I last spoke to them, about 2 weeks back, they were out of S40X, and recommended CFI-A6039, which looks the same, but no handle. Although, if you order something like 300 S40X, they will make new ones :)
