hey guys, im building an HTPC chassis out of aluminum, and i need a power button to mount on it... i googled and pricewatched for it, didnt turn up anything besides an AT style power switch, so i need some help! thanks all!

Directron has just the regular switch you'll find on any atx case.
Xoxide has an integrated power and reset button like you'd find in an acrylic case. They also have this cool hidden switch that you can use to replace a "normal" power switch.
BestByte has "normal" power switches for $3 + shipping. They're probably the best (read CHEAPEST lol) deal.

Hope that helps? :D

lookin for something like the directron one, but i need an anesthetic portion too... lookin maybe black or silver. thanks for hte help!

Vandels switches (no they don't get any cheaper) and these are good, if going with a "bare metal" look go with the Vandel. If going with a black case I like to use those LED switches, you can also pick them up at your local Walmart and I believe Stresstest also sells them (;) ).

Xoxide has the cheapest Vandal switches of all the places I've looked. No more than $14 vs $20 at all the other retailers.

bah, my bad. I meant the pricing on the link you gave, pctoys (Same company)

also bgmicro.. ive seen a LOT of stuff there and lotsa switches... definitely a place to look at

am i missing something, or will rocker switches not work for atx power?? rocker switches are more for like Cathodes, right?

If u want to use it as a power switch, you have to strip the molex cable from the switch, or the switch from the cable. That site has it cheaper than buying the switch itself, since it's the same switch. Take the switch and find a cable with a jumper connection at the end, or cut the molex off and find a jumper end. Then you can solder/tape/glue or use the Force to attach the switch to the cable. It's all about the connectionz.

well i know that lol, where im getting caught up is that a rocker switch has an on and off position, right? so if that type of switch is left int eh "on" position for longer than ~4seconds, the computer will turn off. so what do you guys do, flip it on and then flip it off again? that work?

edit: cuase if that works, i have a switch from a dead cathode inverter i could use

i made my own power button before... out of a eraser and two paper clips and it actually still works great

i have posted a diagram somewhere on this forum... if i have time, ill look for it
