Where are components manufactured?

I'm curious as to whether or not parts such as RAM, processors, motherboards, etc are manufactured in the US or someplace outside like China? Is this "Silicone Valley" place mostly where the industry is based, or do they actually make their components there? Thanks!

There are manufacturing plants worldwide, in the US and abroad.

aren't most components actually made outside the US and then assembled in the US?

I remember a while back that (think 2000-2002) that RAM prices shot up because of earthquakes in either Korea or Taiwan so I would guess that is where most of our sticks used to come from if not still.

Yes, most components are manufactured outside of the US, and even assembled outside of the US. There are, however, still plants in the US, lol.
