When you guys build your own systems you buy OEM processors or Retail. I'm going to be buying the stuff to build my first two self builds and I'm wondering if I should just get the retail or oem. On the bigger system I won't be using stock cooling so what ya all think?

I've always bought retail because they come with a 3 year warranty, and supposedly they overclock better, but that is hard to prove. The 3 year warranty for just a few dollars more is worth it though, and I hardly ever use the HSF that comes with the retail chips.

Retail if I'm not going to physically mod the CPU.

If I'm physically modding the cpu(AMD), thus voiding the warranty, I usually buy OEM.

Yeah ditto on that.

Just go retail, 4 bux more gets you 3 year warranty and a heatsink, stickers and a box.
