I was just wondering when most people will snatch a new Pentium D CPU. I am really tempted to get one the day it comes out, but im sure it will come down in price and there will me more mobos that are better suited for the new CPU's in time. I think i'll hold off for a while.

When my CPU jumps out of the case and lies there on the floor in a steaming pile of silicon I will buy another CPU. :p In the meantime, apart from the fact that I haven't been able to overclock it to save my life, I'm happy with this one.

D) when Dell has a system in the outlet with one for under $450, or Dell has a hot deal for under $600 new

F) Most likely, never.

I wouldn't say that. If they are as good as some people think they'll be, then I don't care who makes it - I want one!

Secret Option #7) Pentium Extreme Edition - Dual Core w/HT

:p

Pending I go Intel anyway, I have been more and more dissapointed... We will seee!

When the Pentium D uses a better core than the P4/NetBurst core...maybe.

You all think that the Yonah core or similar variant will be brought to the desktop to replace the Pentium D in Q1 06?

yeah. only its going to be called Pentium D as well AFAIK

Another vote for never.

Just moved my ass up to Socket 939 from 478, and will probably get another of the same once dual cores have been around long enough to be palatable.
