I think the ipad is too heavy and clumsy, and I'm not going to buy 1.
But Samsung has demo showing OLED in that ipad size 1/2 yr. ago, so to have a iPAD or some sort of kindle type book reader in a thin OLED thickness (credit card thickness), how much longer do we have to wait?

You're stuck waiting until we figure out how to massively improve battery technologies. It's the batteries that cause the iPad to be heavy, not the screen. The batteries are what is using up most of the internal space as well, and causing the most weight.

you mean the glass surface on the screen adds no weight!!? :p

I remember someone complaining about iPad weight before and they went to a parts list and claimed it was 1/3 battery, 1/3 screen(including touch and glass protection) and 1/3 other (case back + ciruit boards).

You will save negligible weight by going to OLED if you still want to protect the screen.

BTW Samsung is supposed to release more info on it's OLED Galaxy Tablet soon, it will probably be lighter due to a smaller 7" screen:

it appears that Samsung may launch the device in a few weeks at the IFA 2010 consumer electronics show in Berlin.

The initial details released on the Samsung tablet concept hinted that it might have specifications and functionality capable of offering an iPad alternative. The early information suggested that the tablet would have a 7-inch Super AMOLED display with Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz UI, a 1.2GHz A8 processor, 16Gb of internal memory--expandable to 48Gb, and run the latest Android 2.2 OS--a.k.a. "Froyo".

7" might intially sound like it is close in size the the iPad but it is less than half the screen area:

I just need something to read my PDF file, so the same size as Sony PDF reader will do it. the iPAD is all hype up marketing junk, it's too thick, too clumsy, too heavy, I won't use it even if it's free
