When Will ATI Fold Better?

I am thinking about getting a new graphics card to fold with next month, and here is my dilemma:

GTX260 or 4870.

I know this has been asked before time and time again in the Video Card section, but my question also involves folding.

Since ATI cards don't fold very well with the current units, will there ever be a chance of them keeping up with a gtx260 with a future update? I would prefer to buy a 4870 over a 260, but I just feel bad because I can produce a lot better with a 260.
