when installing a motherboard

you know when you install your mobo your mobo comes with a new plate to switch out the stock computers plate with, well you know when those plates are new they have those little metal things sticking out, well what do you d owith them, cut them off? or bend them up or what?

Aren't those pins or however they're called for clipping it onto the mobo inputs panel and onto your motherboard? They should be easily bendable.
 
That "metal plate" is called an I/O Shield. As for the tabs that you see on top of the network openings, USB, and the like, you can bend those upward so that you don't end up jamming them into the ports on the motherboard.
 
well when i try to install the motherboard and stick it into the plates to check if the hoels line up the holes on my tray don't line up with the holes on my motherboard.
 
If your PS/2 keyboard adapter has a metal tab on it, those generally push against the I/O shield making installation a little bit more of a hassle.

Check to make sure that nothing is catching on the I/O shield and try again.

mine does have a ps/2 keyeboard adapter and yea it has the round metal tab around it, IT IS ANNOYING, keeps on pushing against the thing, sigh.
