I was looking over the patch log for the witcher 2 and noticed this insanity:

Islamic–themed and similar textures have been deleted and/or replaced.

Holy hell, what is this global insanity over Islam? There isn't a SINGLE other religion that gets tip toed around so blatantly. What could have possibly precipitated this decision?
 
They had mistakenly put images of Islamic "prayer rugs" in a bunch of brothels throughout the game. They decided to take them out in good taste.
 
Oh I could see that. That's kind of like hanging the Shroud of Turin up in a strip club in Duke Nukem.

They are doing that for a good reason. Please know the facts first before complaining. Also, Christianity is more openly criticized than Islam. For example, the word "Jesus Christ" is often used as a negative expression or slur.

I disagree. I haven't seen any Christians stopped and frisked by the TSA in airports of late and I'm pretty sure the slur isn't on jesus but his flock who don't pay much heed to the word.

"Please know the facts first before complaining." I love this kind of arrogant response, I can almost see the posters pinky in the air as they sip their starbucks. Really the point is that YES Christianity is openly chastised but very little is censored because of it. The glaring hypocrisy rears it's ugly head seemly daily in current news.

Helpful Forum Posting 101 hint; When making a post use a descriptive thread subject.

Allow me to demonstrate: "Whats your thoughts on this?" = double fail due to confusion between singular and plural and non-descriptive subject. Just for the extra slow among us "what is your thoughts" really should be "what are your thoughts" or "what is your thought".

Suggestion for a more descriptive thread subject: "Islamic theme removed from Witcher 2 - your thoughts?"

Many who are Islamic are much more sensitive to criticism of their religion. It's just best to not even try to use it in a game.
 
The world is too goddamn PC. If you have to be careful not to offend people in a friggin game, what the hell have we come to ??!!

Everybody has a right to free speech (or at least that's the way its supposed to be). If anyone doesn't like it because it upsets their delicate sensibilities (esp if its religious) then they should STFU. Religion is so hypocritical - its based on belief and intolerance of competing beliefs, yet they can't stand anything they don't like.

I asked a Muslim friend about his prayer rug one time(he was quite devout) and he told me it was just a rug and nothing special. Like pissing on/burning it would be the same as doing so to a church pew, as in not very offensive. Although I'm sure there are other Muslims that would love to push their agenda by inflaming a situation like this, just as there are crazy Christians, they're not the type of people we should have to tiptoe around.

If someone says: "hey, that's offensive, can you please take it down" then that's a different story, but I think our ignorance of Islam has let us be cowed by the extremists that use their religion as a tool against us. Not that it's a bad thing to be sensitive to other views, but we all have seen how political correctness can turn into ridiculousness, and finally a form of self-censorship.

CDProjekt is a company. They probably don't want to alienate some of their potential customers by implying that their religion is for whores. ;)
