im not picking favorites but im torn as to what to get. nvidia gtx 780 or amd r9 290 whats your opinion. Ive never had driver issues with amd so dont bring that up
 
I love the OpenCL performance that the AMD cards have. You can render video using them in programs like Corel's VideoStudio Pro X6. You can transcode on the fly for streaming to places like Twitch.tv and Adobe products like Photoshop leverages the power of OpenCL also.

The GTX 780 is a fine video card and is usually cheaper than the R9 290 due to price gouging by retailers. I don't think you can go wrong either way.
 
With current mining going on with AMD cards they have been increased quite a bit over MSRP and companies are taking full advantage of the supply and demand. I would go with the GTX 780 and I dont think you would be disappointed.
