What's wrong with this display?

I have an Acer AL2016W that boots up like normal and then turns the backlight off after about a second. You can still see the screen is working, but there's no backlight. If you unplug the power or vga cable and reconnect, the image comes back for another second until the backlight turns off again... Does anyone have any ideas for what I could or should do? I've already tried multiple vga cables, power cables, and computers.

You've probably got a busted inverter. Sounds like a RMA / return for sure.

Specifically, an NMOS transistor of an inverter has had Vt degradation, and will no longer switch properly. You might be able to fix it, I wouldn't recommend RMA.
