OK,
so, i gotta BFG 7800GTX. i'm playing UT2004 demo. And i'm getting..... 84fps??!?!?? what is up with that?? i'm using an nforce4 ultra system with an AMD X2 4400+, WinXP Pro SP2, 2gb memory, 78.03 drivers (but have tried with earlier ones) nothing overclocked or anything. temps are fine. so....

that's a bit vague

84 fps where, doing what? what settings do you have enabled in the game? what resolution? what aa/af setting? vsync enabled or disabled?

sorry.....

its basically 84fps average during gameplay.... regardless (on the Rankin map). All settings are on their highest, with all effects, etc. on. Res is 1024x768, 32bit, direct3D. where do i find aa/af in the game? no special setting in the geforce display settings.

vsync?

Most likely. Is your monitor set to 85Hz refresh rate? Disable Vsync. I just don't remember if it's an in-game setting (most likely) or driver setting.

Well, if it is vSynch, and it never drops below that frame rate, than you should leave it on to get rid of tearing.

You wont notice a higher frame rate than that anyway...Unless your playing Quake 3 that is :p

up ur res man!!!!! go to 1600x1200 with full eye candy..if my x850xt pe can do it easily then urs can do it whilst shitting!

84 is the max frames in UT2004... nothing is wrong with ur card...
are u new to Ut2004...

Maybe he's just new to actualy hitting the framerate cap :p

i think the cap is only for online play though, i know i've seen the framerate at like 90 or so in offline benchmarking....oh and remeber UT2004 is an EXTREMELY cpu limited game

maybe... i dunno i think 84 is the all around cap.. i dont know why you'd go any higher.. u wouldnt notice a chane from 80 to 100.... its just real smooth at 84...

Is there a minimum FPS you should get? I would be happy if all my games ran at that. I would say overclock your 7800 and go from there.

Minimum FPS on any game IMO should never go below 45, not an avg 45fps but the minimum of 45fps. To attain 45fps as your minimum your average will/should be about 60

Added; you wont be able to tell the difference from 85fps and 749,120,159,622 fps or anything inbetween.
Although if u hit 749,120,159,623 you'll see a huge gain though.

Change your res to 1600x1200 and see if the FPS goes higher, your CPU might be limiting the 7800 at 1024x768.

If the card is still performing like crap at 1600x1200 then it's the cards fault and you shoudl RMA it.

That made zero sense.
