Ok, to start. Yes i do realize i am "new" to the board. I have been visiting this board however for years. I have been paying VERY close attention to video cards and i have one question.

What is the deal with everyone bashing the Geforce FX series? Yes i know they had their problems with the 5600 and the 5800. Why can't people just leave that be in the past? Yes i also know that they optimized they're drivers for 3Dmark. I think that falls under the "who really gives a ***" category.
I mean seriously guys. I get on this board every single day and it is just rediculous how people act on how "ATI is better". The fact is that for the most part Nvidia has cleaned up ALOT. If you actually look at benchmarks of GAMES, Nvidia has been neck and neck with ATI. ATI wins 3Dmark. So what, i don't play the 3dMark games. Well except for that one truck game on 2001, thats pretty cool. But other than that i dont play 3Dmark. So why trust their benchmarks?
These days you can pick up a 5900 for 160 bucks. I mean really come on that is a deal if i ever saw one. But no, people get the 9600 XT, a card that costs the same or more for less performance.(please dont do an extensive search to prove me wrong it will only make you look bad). 9600 XT is a joke. That half life coupon is a joke. I for one believe that when the next two generation of cards come out, Nvidia will smash the competition.

Without reading any of this up top. All im basically saying is when a newbie cheeze walks in and says some stupid question like "should i buy a 9600XT or 5900NU". Please be smart and tell him to buy the 5900. Don't be an ignorant ATI prick. Nvidia is better for bang for the buck. ATI for the moment has top end, kinda.

ahh.. most people are now seeing light when it comes to the under $200 card now. The 9600Pro/XT were really popular until the fx 5900nu got under $200. You have to be an idiot IMO if you buy a 9600 over a 5900.

heh i just bought a 5900NU exactly because of that concept. Well not exactly but. :p

Uh oh... This is turning into a big, steaming pile of "NVidiot vs. ATIdiot" nonsense...

I'm going to say that the choice between the higher-end cards from both NVIDIA and ATI boils down to this:
Which positive do you favour more? Sheer speed for/compatibility with legacy games, or image quality? (Keep in mind that even the slowest of these mid-to-high-end cards is more than adequately fast for current games.)

Tygerwoody, welcome to the [H].

One thing you should make note of is that posting blatantly biased statements like that is inflammatory. You are free to post your opinions on various products and discuss them in a civil manner, but inflammatory statements designed to "stir the pot" are not welcome here. Hence, I've locked this thread.
