Hey guys. I bought a 2005fpw 3 weeks ago. I love the thing but really want to get the 24in puppy. I paid $426 for this monitor shipped, NO tax. I called a guy named Brad at Dell( someone on here said to call him to get the $990 deal) he said he had to charge me tax and didnt know why I wasnt charged tax the first time. The first time I ordered it online but I can only get the $1199 deal online. Any comments?

thanks
Ralph

I think the Brad guy at Wipro overused whatever ability he has to offer discount prices a long time ago. He was the first person I talked to when I was interested in ordering a 2005fpw. I didn't have the cash so I just asked for curiosity sake, over time his qoutes kept getting higher and higher until they were at point where it was the same as retail. I eventually bought a 2405FPW for a discount price ($850) through a different rep by word of the board.

You either have to keep calling different reps and talk them into a lower price or find an opportunity like I did and jump on it.

I tried calling a rep yesterday to get this 2405fpw for a great deal. The best he could do was $100 off at $1099. Oh he would take another $50 if I didn't want the stand! I expected a better price but looks like I didn't get the right rep on the phone. Might be stuck to waiting for another coupon code deal.

the tax is wierd at dell. technically everywhere but 6 ststes, i forget which, are required to pay sales tax, but if you order through their discount program you have to pay tax for pretty much every state. i dont remember if there was any states that didn't have to pay tax through the discount program (government/student/affiliate/employee)

the reps don't really have much slack on the pricing either. it's rare that you'll get a rep that's in a position to offer a better price than another, sometimes there's additional coupons available that they might not have used atm but i wouldn't count on it. if you don't dont buy right there they might use it on another computer and then they wont be able to offer you the same deal later. sometimes you'll get a hint from another member or the reps themselves but it's usually a waste of time to call under the assumption that they'll be able to hook you up.

if the price advertised on the website isn't already in your budget it's best to just hold out till it is, then maybe see about gettin a few extra bucks off.
