Whats the fastest Conroe processor? E6800?

x6800 is dual core. It is the fastest C2D processor. Everyone is going apeshit for e6600 because of the $350 pricetage compared to the $1300 for the x6800.

It all comes down to price. The e6600 is the cheapest chip with the full 4mb cache.

Then you just overclock the crap out of it to make up for the frequency deficit.

it comes down to this - why spend 1300 dollars when you can spend 350 - get the same level of performance - and go buy 2 gx2's to run on the machine - or maybe even some ddr2 1066 ram with 4-4-4-8 timings? cause yea - that would own

yeah it has unlocked multi's and has higher stock clock (better binning) :)
However if you get the Asus P5B Deluxe mobo you can unlock the multi's on the other ones too.

They're all unlocked from their stock multiplier down to 6. The difference with the X6800 is that the numbers range from 6 to 40 or something crazy like that. E6600 can be ran from 9X, 8X, 7X, and 6X. It can't be set to 11 or 13X like the X6800.

BTW, I tried my E6600 at 8X and 7X on the GA-965 DS3. Asus isn't the only one that allows changes to made to the Multiplier.

Oh and DarkOneX that reply was for *others who might not have gotten it.
