What's the difference between these?

$9.99 more for Active PFC id go for it, im thinking of ordering that same psu since I need one and it was one of my choices. ;)
 
Hmmm...what is up with the 12v's listed there. I would check enermax's website but it doesn't load for some reason on this computer :rolleyes:
 
Well after poking around for a few minutes I can't find what I was thinking but from the newegg links the 565P has 18A on each 12v. The AX says combined 20A. So yeah...

Yeah I know I was just trying to nail down what was different between the two and i ran into that flash wall......and then not much useful on their site.

umm ok 370w , 420w , 485w all have same +12 rails... then I see

(many supplies are unstable if there isnt a great enough a load on them, which is why the minimum rating is given)

as far as addition goes
generally its accepted that for the 325 & 375
16 + 16 = 23
18 + 18 = 27
:p

past that the additional capacity stated is potential crossload capacity
thus its provisional, if the +3.3V & +5V rails arent employing it
(in this case Id likely extend that to if the other +12V rail isnt either)
when looking at older supplies a key figure to watch is the combined capacity of the +3.3V & +5V
which is typically a shared rail when it comes to capacity
when looking at a modern supply the total amperage as expressed as wattage also needs to be addressed,
thus those extra +12V amps arent available if the other rails are loaded up ;)

volt x amps = watts

EG495AX-E
+3.3V @ 32A = 105.6W
+5V @ 32A = 160W
+12V1 @ 18A = 216W
+12V2 @ 18A = 216W
-12V @ 0.8 = 9.6W
+5VSB @ =12.5W

total 719.7 Watts :p

whereas actual capacity (at the test temperature) is limited to 485Watts
and goes down from there as the temperature rises

in short there is only so much capacity to go around
its allocation is somewhat flexible, but within the expressed limits
