What's the difference between these 2 sticks?

well i currently have the one without the heatspreader. I can get the one with the heatspreader from a friend of mine. but im worried they wont match or something and i wouldnt be able to use them in dual channel. what do heatspreaders do anyway?

They will run fine in dual channel. As for heatspreaders, they do nothing. It's just aesthetics, though I'm sure someone will argue with me that system memory gets hot enough to require a strip of metal that does nothing to cool it. There are exceptions, since corsair has the Xpert heatspreaders now that tell you information about the memory in one of the most inconvenient parts of the system, and geil makes thermometer-equipped heatspreaders.
 
Or someone else will argue that heatspreaders act as a blanket over the memory chips therefore raising the temps :rolleyes: .
But who cares, memory modules dont realy need heat "spreaders", decent case ventilation does enough.
