What's the difference between real memory and virtual memory???

Hey there...I don't quite understand what virtual memory is and how it is different from real memory...does it work the same as real memory??? Are there any drawbacks compared to the performance to real memory??? Etc...THANX

Virtual memory is a file on your hard drive that is reserved to act like extra physical memory. So, obviously virtual memory is much much slower. Most power users who have enough RAM completely disable their virtual memory. This forces the OS to use physical RAM which is much faster.

On a side note, I see your asking a lot of questions that you could do a little work for yourself and find the answers too easily. Always expecting other people to do your work isn't going to get you very far.
