what's the difference b/w these two cases?

yea usually black is more expensive than any other color.. thats the reason for the price increase.
 
Both of those towers are made from aluminum. They are not painted. Both were anodized one clear anodized the other black. This means there is no paint to chip or peal anywhere on the case. Infact anodizing forms a layer of aluminum oxide with or without color dyes incorporated into it. Aluminum oxide = Sapphire!! One of the hardest substances known to man.
 
Although hardness depends on how its molecules are situated. When carbon is crystallized in a diamond it is the hardest (can't think of a harder material anyway, maybe an exotic synthetic material), but when it is in the form of coal or graphite, it crushes/breaks quit easily :). Sorry, I'm a nerd.
