Whats the deal?

Guillemot/ Hercules no longer has a state side unit, so now all of there cards come from euro. this adds to the cost, also Guillemot/ Hercules are some of the most expensive cards you can buy. They always have been.
 
all the previously mentioned factors and not to mention supply and demand. its the same way with SDRAM. It's usually more expensive than DDR. :p
