I want to put a new computer together most likely a small form factor PC and want to link it up to a 30" Monitor. I know they require Dual Link DVI yet I don't want to spend a lot of money on one. I haven't played a video game in ages so graphic performance in that respect is not too important to me. So like the thread title mentions, what is the cheapest card I could get for Dual Link DVI - 30" monitor setup. I'm looking to get a cheaper Dell 3007wfp-hc off of eBay or Craigslist.

Edit:

Just doing some of my own research the NVidia GT430 seems like a viable option at $60.

Usually the DVI ports on motherboards are single-link. But it's worth a look.

That said, if you can buy a more recent screen than the Dell 3007wfp-hc with a Displayport input, that is guaranted to work (if your motherboard has a Displayport connector)

The GT 210 is cheaper, lower-power and fanless:

And YES, it does support dual-link!

I have a GT520 low profile that works fine on my 2560x1440 screen. I got it at Fry's for $19.99. Most of the low-end cards shoud work fine as long as you aren't asking for it to play games.

That looks good. It shouldn't have a problem playing HD movies would it? 1080p?

I'll look into that one as well

The GT210 and GT520 are very similar if not the same (GT520 being a rebadged GT210), they play HD movies just fine. I could actually play Dragon Age 2 at the lowest settings 1080p on that card.

That's good to know. Did they add any features to the GT520 over GT210?

They are NOT similar.

GT 520 is Fermi-based, and is a it more game-capable than the GT 210 (but still dog-slow).

GT 210 is a respin of the 8400 GS (16:8:4 core layout) on 40nm with a generation 4 media engine. It will not game any better than Intel HD 2000, but it will playback media flawlessly (it's basically what they used on the ION chipset, and that allowed slow Atom cores to play 1080p). It also uses a lot less power because it's not based on Fermi.

The previous poster may be thinking of the fact that the new GT 620 is a rebadge of the GT 520.
