What's the best deal on a 15" i5 laptop currently?

My 15" HP DV6700 just bit the dust so I figure it's time to upgrade to a new laptop. My budget is $500-1000, but the lower the better.

My only concern really is durability - physical / mechanical, and battery life. Any recommendations?

What are the best brands to stick to? I'm looking at Asus and Toshiba currently based on good reviews.

If durability is what you're looking for, try to stick to business class laptops as those are generally very well built.

Maybe MSI GE600.. One of the advantages of this notebook is it's support for dual graphics, Intel GMA HD and ATi HD5730..

The battery can last for 167 minutes while on Intel GMA HD, close to three hours, based on Mobile Mark.. Not good enough but still worth...
