can someone tell me where i can find information on what are the newer ati & nvidia cards specs, names, anyone know anything? links?

dude you can get 2x6800gts for that or if ati just get an 800xt and oc it to 850xt pe speeds.
they are overpriced b/c there are so few available.

spaceman, are 2 gt cards faster than one 6800 ultra and what about the x850xt pe?

Here's a good question: Why would you buy an x850XTPE when you can buy an x850XT and OC it?

for the same reason someone would buy an SLI setup and say their current games are far more enjoyable? Thats right, ego!

There is no good reason, just people are simply willing to pay that much.

I think they should clock the same because they're the same hardware but running at different speeds.

the two GT's will beat the ultra in pretty much everything. In situations such as Doom 3, the two GT's are faster than the x850xt pe. However, in other games the x850xt pe matches or takes a slight lead. Mostly depends on the game..
I like the fact that Nvidia has 3.0 support. I could see that making a difference in future games.

two 6800gt's will whoop the pants off one x850xtpe in every single thing @ 1600x1200 max aa/af and above resolution.. the only way an x850xtpe can take the lead over SLI 6800gt's is that the game is highly cpu limited and ur running @ low resolution..that's about it...heck, SLi gt's even beat teh x850xtpe in Hl2, but not by much...since Ati is made for HL2 :) and a single 6800gt will probably beat the x850xtpe in Doom 3 for ur information :)

You can get an new OEM BBA X850XT PE for 450-550 range on Ebay Yes I know.. Ebay but hey its new sealed. :p
