What's my system bottleneck?

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (1.6Ghz)
512MB PC2700 DDR
Geforce 4 Ti4600

World of Warcraft is a bit choppy... I have over double the requirements, but the video still lags a bit.

you have over the double for minimum requirements.....that's different than recommended specs.

Turn down your res, or turn down the detail settings and try again.

no bottleneck, IMHO, all 3 parts listed are roughly in the same class

what he said, play with settings
start with a minimum rez you want, turn all settings on LOW, then move them up until it gets too slow for you

Yeah, they are all on the same level of playing field, I would say if you had a litte money to spend I would get some more ram. Even if does not help you in game it would give your system a little more breathing room.

Yes, what everyone else said

You should start to look for the cause of the problem. I would suggest checking and making sure that you don't have an assload of programs loading when your computer boots. You know, stuff like adobe, quicktime, real, etc...

START-RUN- type MSCONFIG
go to the startup tab and uncheck everything except what you really need.

I would also say to run adaware, spybot, and an uncompromized virus scan. I'll bet use the internet for the same reason everyone else does, research (porn) and your computer is dirty as hell.

Also, when was the last time you defraged your box? Can't remember, it's time to do it again.

update all your drivers, direct x and windows.
Patch your game

If nothing here works, and you know for a fact that your box used to play the game smooth, it is probably time for a nuke and pave.

I have the same proc and video card as the guy that started this thread, but I only have 384 megs of pc 133. Im playing WoW as well and my system stutters abit. How much is this ram holding me back. Im planning an a64 upgrade sometime next year, could I go ahead and buy some pc 3200 and use it in this old machine untill I upgrade?
