Now, I have 2 suspicions about my problem...which by the way has been getting high memory speed whilst maintaining 1t timings with 2 double-sided Dimms

My first thought is the Mobo, since I had this CPU and the Ballistix on a Gigabyte K8nsPro board, and my Limit with 1t timings in that case was 206 mHz before instability made 1t impossible.

Putting the CPU and the Ballistix into this Neo, i was able to get to 234mHz on my Memory before it crapped out...

Well I have recently gotten a hold of some TCCD in the Form of 2x512 G,Skill 4400LE , so I've chuckd that in here, and Find myself at the very same limit for enabling 1t... 234mHz.

So now Is it just the memory controller on these Newcastles that is too stressed for 1t at those speeds, Or is it the Motherboard I got that isn't playing nice... Or perhaps a bit of both?

Cause the 1t "Cutoff" on the Gigabyte board was only 206 mHz, while I could get it much higher with this neo... so since it varied with the Mobo, I am thinking that perhaps that could be the culprit.

Has anyone run 1t with a CG-stepping 3400+ Newcastle at high HTT ? Any thoughts?
 
sounds like it is the CPU, when raising the FSB, did you remember to lower the CPU mult. Since you are crapping out at the same speed it sounds like ur CPU is hitting a limit causing the sys instability. Lower your CPU mult so it is not running over stock speeds then test the ram. Also what timings are you running on the ram. If you are running at 2-2-2-5 dont expect to be running at a really high FSB.
 
I was using the Recommended 2.5-3-3-7 timings on the TCCD and 2.5-4-4-10 timings on the ballistix, though the ballistix will happily do 225mHz at 2.5-2-2-10, while I haven't had that much time to feel out this TCCD it has just arrived.

CPU seems to OC fine up to 2.6gHz, but I haven't brought it higher Due to cooling issues at that speed, but for the Memory tests the CPU has been run with all sorts of multis from 12 down to 8 depending on my HTT to keep the CPU as close to stock 2.4gHz as possible to rule it out of the equation...

Well except it's not out of the equation ever, is it? due to the onboard mem controller...

Hmmm time to sell this 754 Mobo/CPU and go to 939 I think...

I can OC it higher with 1 stick... seems that it's my Memory controller on this Newcastle that can't handle the stress of 2 512 DIMMS at much higher than 230mHz...

Guess I'll just bench with 1 stick untill I get my new mobo/cpu and Game with a Gig at slower speeds :p

Uhhh.. I would agree with that.( sell mobo and CPU) Keep the Gskill LE mem as it kicks much ass all over anything I have ever used. Get a really good board. If your gonna stick to AGP then go with the MSI Neo2 Platinum. Great overclocker. If going PCI-e get either the MSI K8 Neo4 board be it platinum or Diamond or the DFI i hear wiil be good to.
