I remember something like this being posted a little while ago but cant find it.

I want to know what you all think is [H]ot in case modding and in computer cases in general. I'm trying to think of new ideas for a case mod and am just curious what people say in general :p

Here's what I think:
- Subtle accent lighting (no overbearing cathodes)
- Polished or brushed bare aluminum (gives the case a "cold" look)
- Silence
- No wasted space... like buying a Stacker and owning 1 hard drive
- Hidden optical drives

I think colormatching everything (case, hardware, etc) is pretty cool. Usually people don't care about the color of the hardware. I'd like to see mobo manufacturers come up with simple elegant colors for their boards instead of crazy color schmes of red, black, green, yellow, and blue all on one board. Keep it simple!

Hard drive mods in any sort are always a cool one.

I agree with the color matched hardware thing... I wish everything could just be black PCBs - it would be so sexy :D

Paris Hilton says clean wire management and beautifully integrated water cooling is so hot right now.

Well having 2 colors is fine. One color would be fine as well. For some reason the they think we don't care about the colors. They have something of a rainbow of colors on some of these motherboards and they're downright ugly. The Asus P5B for example. It's got black pcb w/ beige, black, red, blue, yellow, and teal connectors. What the hell?

I don't see any reason for not having a standard black connector for everything though. Beige connectors should be BANNED from usage on any motherboard. As well as clear ones.

Heh yeah I started the thread back in may, heres the link if you were looking, as for what I think is hot, any high quality custom paint job

my mobo and vid card is all black, as is my case :) wasa PITA fiding a good black mobo and vid card thou

  • white ccfl's
  • colored windows
  • the size between mid and full tower
  • red cathodes that are red
  • no case windows if it doesn't match
  • Brushed aluminum
  • anodized aluminum

trying not to sound stupid, can you paint your mobo? I may attempt this on an old crappy baord and see if it still works.

If you masked off all the components, and made sure to use a...
No, no you couldn't. Sorry.

It could possibly work if you masked off all the connectors so they didn't get paint on them. I started to mask off things like caps on a board and then got really bored and quit the project.

What's a good black-colored GPU? Thinking of going with the AW9D-MAX.
