I know these two brothers and they keeps arguing on what is better one bought a regular 6600 256mb AGP card (for some stupid ass reason he would listen to me and get a 6600GT like i told him too had to have 256mb) and the Other is using a 5900xt that was given to him.

In your honest opion witch one is better and why.Just between the two.

P.S. I know neither of them are not the greatest cards in the world, I'd have to say the 5900xt.

The 6600 GT is better because it perfroms better in every single game and benchmark than the FX5900 series.

he said 6600 ;)

I think the 6600 line would have more potential because it's a newer generation...but the 6600 line wasn't designed to be a high end card..but 6600 anyway

I know the GT is better, I want to know between a 6600 256(non GT) and a 5900xt.

But thank you anyway.

6600s have support for all 6x00 features, ie. shader model 3, high dynamic range lighting... um, i think they have more shaders. i'm not sure how a 6600 would hold up against a 5900xt at stock speeds... it would be close.

but i was able to overclock my 6600 core to 525 mhz from 300, and i remember getting a HUGE performance boost from that... so who knows.

the 5900XT has a better core/memory speed and is also 256bit. BUT the 6600 has the shader model 3.0 which I believe the 5900XT does not. Also some say the 5900XT is a half a$$ed card. I would choose the 5900XT over the 6600 though.
