what's all this about input lag?

I understand what it is, but some people seem to think it is the end of the world. I have never measured it on my LCD's nor do I think I even care too....

When I switched from my 19" LCD to my 21", and now to my 24", I cannot tell a difference....is this issue applicable to ALL larger LCD's?

more on the overall efficiency of firmware/chipset scaler decoder and the panel to receive/decode signals

No, it varies from model to model. The Samsung 244t is notorious for having horrendous input lag, but none of the Dell, Gateway, and BenQ models seem to have it. There's always going to be some latency, of course, but it's only really bad when it's perceivable, and some people are more sensitive to it then others. FPS gamers seem to especially be sensitive to it, since those games rely on split-second reactions.

Funny that the Samesung 244t is known for it, but the Gateway 24" is not, since the panel is made by Samsung....

Input lag usually isn't caused by the panel itself, but by other components on the monitor -- it seems that some monitors do more processing than others to try and improve image quality, but this can result in more latency before the signal reaches the panel. This is why it's possible for one monitor to have horrible input lag and another to have none, even if they use identical panels.
