3200retail on giga k8ns939 board
winnie does 2200 w no extra voltage @1.40
it does 2300 @ 1.475
it does 2400 @ 1.55

is 1.55 safe on air? it idles at 73F in a 70F room, and gets up to 92 running prime95

mine hasn't exploded yet and i ran it for 4-5 days at 1.7volts. Mostly i've kept it under 1.65, since its good up to 2.6ghz at that voltage.

oh i forgot to say i'm using the stock cooler too, but the temps are so low, is there something else I should worry about? Is 95F too hot for this proc?

Unless I'm mistaken, 95F=35C. Your CPU hits 35C under LOAD?? I don't think you have anything to worry about.

You aren't anywhere arctic, are you? ;)

:) SE Texas- its 69.5 in the house.

it just rebooted at 2400, 1.55 vcore, it was idling at 73F, I was surfing Net (these forums) when it rebooted
ram is rated ddr500, i should try a divider (166) just to make sure....

but otherwise I'm thinkin 'WTF?'

10x240 works- at 1.50Vcore- but I have to take the memory down with a divider (166) @250 HTT the mem is at 200.
The memory is supposed to be DDR500, but it doesnt seem to run in dual channel at 250- I may try the 2 sticks in diff ram slots, as single channel, and see if it runs at 240-250 stable that way. If thats the case, Im selling this crummy ram for some real ddr500. Its PNY/VERTO ddr500 with LEDs on the edge that blink with activity. Geigh, I know, but I thought I was getting good ram in spite of the bling.

heres the ram at compusa

any other suggestions, besides selling this and getting REAL RAM ??

I dunno about that ram, but your timings might be too tight and too low of voltage on the ram...and you paid $200 for 512mb of pc4000? Well pny's webpage reports that ram at 2.5-4-4-7 timings but doesnt spec the voltage...try 2.85 AT MOST. also set the proc at or below its stock speed to completely take it out of the picture and run memtest86. try and keep the htt multi at 4x for 250 and below, 3x for greater than that. If its possible id suggest returning them if you honestly paid that much. online places can supply you with 512mb of pc4400 with better timings for MUCH less. I paid $275 for 1gb of g.skill pc4400 that does 280mhz at 2.5-3-3-7(and i thought that was pricy!).

:D I got the sticks (2 of them) thru a trade here on ocp. I've been playing with it a bit today, and at 1.525vcore, with +.2v on the ram (max on this k8ns mobo) it passes memtest, gets thru a few levels of iterations in prime 95, (i need to let it run for a bit but wont get the chance till tonight) the timing i left stock, 2.5-4-4-7, htt is 3x, mem is 1:1 ( The webpage for the ram never says specifically that they'll run dual channel at 250mhz- )

temp got to 91F during prime- idling at 73F in 68 F room - stock cooler

Id be very happy to trade this ram off or sell it and get different, when I got it I didnt do my homework on it-:)

so far I can only get it to run 240mhz dual channel with extra .2V
havent tried to run 250 mhz dual channel yet- will later- but BS that it takes extra V to do it- it wont do 250 dual at stock V it errors memtest and reboots- BUT with one stick it will do 250, at stock V. and I need more than 512mb for a couple of games I play.

1.525v....still really low.i ran up to 1.7v on stock without even worrying, and actually I almost regret getting the xp-90, almost wasnt worth it. Also, hope your psu is up to par, havent seen you mention that. Also you said it will run 250 with one stick...try it with the other, maybe one stick is defective.

Thanks for all the replies- you guys answers are giving me the balls to up this puppy. Going now to give it a Prime95 workout, see where we're at.
specs

3200+ socket 939 A64
Gigabyte K8NS 939 mobo
PNY/Verto ddr500 2x512mb
BFG6800 GT
Antec trupower 430 psu
120gb WD HD 7200rpm

10x240 @1.55 stable in prime95, and memtest, and gaming.
10x250 @1.6 started prime95, rebooted after about 3 minutes (mem controller was at 133 to eliminate that as a problem)

A few weeks ago I bought the same motherboard with a 3000+ Winchester but I cahn't get the thing to go higher than 216 on the CPU frequency... it sounds like you're not having that problem.

Oh wait a second... does this Gigabyte board have the ALT-F1 trick in the BIOS?

yes, alt-f1 gives you the memory settings, and other options, like the HTT multi. I dont know why Gigabyte buries this in the back page of the manual- its under FAQ in Troubleshooting. If you cant get past 216, drop HT to 4x or 3x, and depending on your ra, you may have to drop the divider for the ram.

That's what I figured... I'll give it a shot tonight. BTW, where 'bouts in SETex are ya? Born & raised in Vidor (don't laugh) but living in Nac myself.

Vidor ?!?!?! Im in Beaumont, born n raised. :D

Go Pirates !!

Yeah, Giagabyte has that alt-f1 thing in their bios - had it in the last board I had, a GA7VAXP

Im pusing 1.5-1.52 to my chip and its sitting nicely at 32-34 idle, 45-48 load and im using a Silent boost.....fan only 27cfm =)
