Looking for one that's good for listening to music but also has a mic for gaming

Ok I have a question about these - I actually had this set in my hands this evening at best buy but couldn't decide on any of the Altec Lansing headsets so I just left empty handed lol.

My question is - How do you hook it up to your computer? Directly to the sound card? I would like to continue using my speakers mostly but I just want a headset for after-hour gaming/music when roomates are asleep, and for counterstrike or whatever. My speakers have a headphone-in but no mic-in. What could I do to get around this?
