As the title says...whatever happened to plain beige cases...I'd love to get my hands on one and mod it myself. Sadly, the only ones I can find are either a) el-cheepo grande. or b) pre-moded. :(

InWin Q500 or its little brother which model i cant remember

probably one of my favorite beige cases ever

This year black is the new beige... Get with the times... :) Get a black one and sand it down and repaint it.

Honestly, the i-mac happened to beige.

Sure people were painting PC's long before that, but apple brought style to the retail PC world.

Thanks for all the responses guys, the reason I want to get a plain beige case is so I don't feel bad when I strip and repaint it...and so I've got free reign as to what to do with it...no premodded windows to get in the way!

InWin and Enlight are still making plenty of beige cases for your modding pleasure, but it looks like the InWin S500, a personal favorite, may have gone away.

dumpster dive!
just go to any local store that sells or repairs computers and stuff, ask if they have beige cases... and it doesnt hurt to check the dumpsters:D

Yep, resale stores have tons of beige cases. I can get a full tower with a psu for $10 at Re-PC.

Yeah yeah, beige is dead? I'll show you who's dead! ;)

That in-win case is tempting, though I'm also looking at the addtronics cases, given that I've currently got one of their server towers and it's a nice design, in fact, I could probably fit a full-size heatercore in the front intake...

So I'm tempted by one of their full-towers, a little smaller, but the front intake looks the same, so it's tempting from a watercooling point of view, though with the huge front area, it does look a little unbalanced. http://www.addtronics.com/6896a.htm

And, there's also this standard mid-tower beige case from them... http://www.addtronics.com/X3200.htm

I have a Chieftec beige I purchased from NewEgg, I only paid $55 w/o PSU. I didn't want to have a black, red or blue case like most other modded rigs are that I've seen. Plus everything else I have is beige my burners, 21' monitor, keyboard etc. The only thing I wish I did was paint the inside beige also to have a bit more custom look.

"the intake looks the same" your modding it, add the intake as you like....

stock inwin fulltower "server" case, added intake for HD cadge (fan mounted between bezle and metal) intake added in side window, exause added on top pannle (blowhole)

if you want PM me ill e-mail you some picks of what my friends and I have done with INwin cases

happy modding...

Actually, I was saying the intake looks the same from a positive point of view... since the intake on my main rig which is in one of the addtronics server towers (can't remember which one), can fit a pair of 120mm fans on it, the perfect thing for a nice big heatercore.

Only problem is that the case (the full tower) is 21.6" high, which is a bit bigger than I'm looking for. Since I want to go with a mid-tower, but I realized that even though a mid-tower would be a lot better from a portability point of view, from a space point of view it sucks.

Sigh...more pondering to do. I really like the Sonata in terms of size...just I wish it had a removable motherboard tray.

Oh well, back to more looking...

I'm figuring beige as a base so I won't feel bad about getting rid of a nice black finish before repainting.

(I want a nice dark blue...mirror finish, but blue instead of black.)
