I bought an e4400 from buy.com for 145.00 shipped. I got my box today, and they actually sent me an e6320.

If you're me do you keep it? Is that an upgrade/good price for what I got?

It's definately the retail 4mb cache e6320.
 
e4400 has a higher clock speed than e6320 but the e6320 has a larger cache. The e4400 is just slightly cheaper than e6320 but I think you would have a problem if you need to RMA the e6320 later since you "bought" the e4400.
 
If it's a retail box, wouldn't you deal directly with Intel for RMA's/warranty???
 
Hmm, that's also true. It's a manufacturer's warranty, not buy.com, so there should be no issues.
 
See how well the E6320 overclocks. If it's a good overclocker, tell them they made a mistake. They may let you keep it rather than go through the trouble of an exchange. If they do want to exhange it, tell them you want to keep it and pay the difference. You've been honest and got a free test drive in the bargain.

If it's not a good overclocker, tell them they need to exchange it.
 
Whatever happened to honesty guys? I sure hope my wallet never falls out of my pocket in your neighborhood.

Of course, if it runs 500 x 7 or better then change your phone number and your credit card number and don't answer the door for nobody! :D

1. if you realize you paid too much, yell about it.
2. if you realize you paid too little, don't say a word!

I don't feel that it would be dishonest to keep it. I paid for a specific product and asked that it be shipped to me by a certain date because I have arranged to build my computer by that point, and this is the last component I bought. Them sending the wrong part (if it had been a worse part) really messed up my timetable. I'm really indifferent to the 6320 vs the 4400, but I am not indifferent to making my build this weekend, and waiting another 2 weeks isn't worth the money or time to me at this point.

So I'm keeping it :)
 
Yeah, why not keep it. :p

Buy.com are a bunch of clowns. I received an extra MP3 player from them a couple of years ago and they seem to make mistakes often from posts on FW.
 
I would tell them and keep it... they are not going to demand it back and if you whine you might get a partial refund for them shipping the wrong item..

i would not be dishonest.....

Your quite a lucky man!!! I would keep it and shut up! Just say your a big TECHNOOB and thought it was the e4400 :p
 
I'd tell them myself, if for no other reason than it could cause problems in the future
 
I will throw in my 2 pennies.

Technically it is stealing. If you can justify that in your mind, go for it.
As for this thread i have to close it for one reason, [H] does not condone theft of any kind and talking about how you got over is not good for the forums
