What would this mean?

Wierd Prpblems with my video card.

I am the Owner of an Asus Ti4200 128mb 8x, I have been noticing things happening recently and I can’t understand why

First of all the game freeze, which only started to occur recently second, in windows (xp) there are these little dots constantly by the courser.. I am also noticing weird lines and dots through the screen. I do have the latest drivers from NVIDIA.

Now after having experienced some of these problems (earlier) I decide to have a look see whats going on in the case, I found an enormous amount of dust and there could have been enough in the video card fan to have clogged it. Could this have anything to do with my problem? Could something have burned? I was thinking there could be a problem with the temperature but I have yet to check it because I don’t know how I would go about doing that.

Please help,,

Thank you

yes, the dust is most definately a culprit, if not the only one.

clean it all out (set your case outside on a newspaper and use a can of compressed air to force all the dust out).

then make sure there's nothing in it, and that everything is plugged in correclty and go set it back up.

should help.

Hehe I guess I Fgot to mention.. I already did that, that’s what worries me, I guess ill just have to test moltipule cards and see if the card is messed up and/or get it replaced. Well Thnx for your help.

those little marks you are seeing is artifacting....I would say the core has overheated and is now damaged:( check that the fan is working correctly...could be time for a new gpu:)

Yep, I think ill get it cheked out by Asus

Thanx Guys

Pardon my Ignorance, Whats a Gpu?

Graphics Processing Unit. It is the core of the graphics card.

double check that the fan is still working, all you might need is to get a new heatsink/fan.
