Well, i'm sure people are willing to help. But without knowing what you use your computer for, we can't.

I say upgrade the CPU, Motherboard, Ram, and Video Card. I think the Video Card should be last on your upgrade list.

Everything else looks pretty damn good (Optical Drives and Hard Drives). You can even use the old parts as a server or whatnot if you do not want to sell it.

You can go the Intel route or the AMD route.

Intel:
2.6C
Abit IC7 or IS7
512MB Mushkin PC3200

AMD:
2500+
Aftermarket HSF
Abit NF7
512MB Mushkin PC3200

i agree with Chelica. new mobo/cpu/ram will be the best thing you can do with what you have. if you have enough cash to spare, add a video card in the end.

whats your budget?

Since thats a whole lot wattin goin on you may want to take a look at a new powersupply, something amd/intel reccomended, id say around 400-450 watts.

I would say get a gig of ram along with MB and CPU, but maybe that is just me.

Id say, use that rig as a file server ad 2d gaming pc, move a HD, mouce, ,moiter over to your new rig (mobo pcu ram vid card, )

Wow, P3 800... even if its dual, its still ancient ;)

I suggest getting a Pentium 4 "C"
There quick as hell and the prices are falling.
I suggest going to www.newegg.com and getting stuff there.

If you are on a tight budget, I say get a P4C 2.6Ghz, 512MB pc3200 DDR Ram, and a good i865 mobo. But if you are willing to spend a little bit more, I suggest 1GB of DDR 4000 (2x512) and a good i875 Mobo... trusted names like Asus, Abit, or giga byte

Hope that helps a little...

Actually, don't forget about the Soyo or Epox I875 MBs as well. Get the one that has all the features you want.

Besides MB, get CPU/HS/fan/RAM/video card. Pretty much the same thing others have told you.

any ideas on a bigger monitor,i have a 19" crt viewsonic,i would like a 22"-23"...i know lcds arent that great yet but any ideas on those too?

you have a kenwood that still works? must be the only one in the world!

on the video card should i go ati 9800xt or with nvidia? nvidias partners arent all that great to choose from...

p4 3.6

I would say a Sapphire or Built By ATI 9800XT, the ASUS 9800XT is just crap. I have one. IC7 has the least amount of features(oldest of the IC7 family), IC7-G is like mid-ranged features(mid-aged) and the MAX3 is the top of the line(newest). Usually the newer boards have revised components. The DDR400 is good, just make sure you have dual channel ram. Also, add a little Arctic Silver in that list. Your monitor is pretty good, I have the A90f+ and it is pretty good, but if you want check out the Display forum - The most recomended LCDs are the Dell 2001FPs -21", the Viewsonic VP171B -17"and the Sony HX-73/X-73 - 17".

Same as everybody else has already said, but for a monitor I'd have to say NEC Multisync FP2141sb. Best crt on the market.
