What Win7 setting is putting the 'shared' overlay on all my desktop files?

I'm at wit's end here. I haven't done ANYTHING different as far as basic windows settings on prior installs. All my sharing settings are what they usually are/were:

TURN ON NETWORK DISCOVERY
TURN ON FILE AND PRINTER SHARING
TURN ON SHARING SO ANYONE WITH NETWORK ACCESS...PUBLIC FOLDERS
USE 128-bit ENCRYPTION
PW PROTECTED SHARING

HOMEGROUP OFF.

Yet every time a file is saved to my desktop it puts that stupid 'shared' overlay in the shortcut arrow area. Every time.
