what water do your run?

main PC distilled + pentosion blue
file server/second pc distilled + hydrx
 
PC Ice is ok, but I'm with the majority who think it's an unnecessary expense, although for some the extra $20-$40 is worth the piece of mind in case of a leak. Once again, most agree than a 24+ hour leak test and using proper tubing, fittings, and hose clamps (even just zip ties) provides as good of leak protection as you can get. But, to each their own.

Myself, I use distilled water with a tablespoon of algicide and a few yellow highlighters for a solid green color and really bright UV glow.
 
The thing is the peace of mind is all in your head. Those solutions are anti conductive because they use distilled water, and after time in your loop they pick up ions and become conductive.

Distilled water + anti corrosive + anti growth is just as anti condutive, and in some cases more, then that expensive crap.

The only real reason to buy it if it's a color you can't find anywhere else, or you just like. In which case more power to you.
 
Well I have had my loop up for over a year now without changing fluid.

I have a 85/15~ roughly, mix of Reverse Osmosis water with Dex-Cool Orange Anti-freeze.

I have no build up of any kind in my loop at all, that is why I haven't changed it.

Plus, my loop is at a difficulty rating of 10/10 to fill and bleed.
 
PC Ice is a load of rubbish, i had the UV green one for about 2 weeks before the color seperated and it looked like an off-pink color.

ive had alot better experience with the new Fluid XP... i know alot of people on here slate it saying it gunks up everything but i havent had that happen to me.. worst ive had happen is a bit of gunk in the bottom of the res after a few months but thats about it. it is expensive though...

i would use either that or distilled water with pentosin.
 
I've been using destilled water and antifreeze in a 9:1 mix for a little over a year now, without any problems. Picked it up at the local gas station for about fifteen bucks :p
 
Tap Water + Isopropyl Alcohol + Zerex + UV Blue. I drank all my distilled water before I could put it in my loop. :(

Lol? How much Iso alcohol? Be wary of any acrylic parts in your loop, as alcohol will leech the plasticizer out of it before it evaporates out of the tubes.

I use 95% distilled water, 3% pentosin blue and 2% Dtek UV dye.
 
Distilled water and the Corsair Stuff.

I like the wierd green color.:D
 
Distilled, 4 drops of pt nuke, and enough dexcool to give it a pink tinge. :D
 
I prefer the kind with two hydrogen atoms and an oxygen atom per molecule.
 
Plain distilled. Only time I saw algae was when I used half-boiled tap water to help me stretch my 3/8" over 1/2" barbs.

I have two bottles each of Pentosin and PT Nuke waiting to be used :rolleyes:
 
Was using Fluid XP Xtreme for 7 months no problem, PSU blew up and decided to clean looop while I had rig apart. Bottle of Fluid XP Ultra arrives today....I don't really buy in to the self proclaimed performance hype of the product, but I have spilled this shit all over my 8800 and mobo and nothing has happened so that in itself for me is worth the price of the stuff.
 
Milli-Q de-ionized, 0.1 micron filtered water + 0.02% sodium azide + 5 drops of Zerex + dye
 
Just straight distilled. I was going to add some antifreeze but got worried about damaging the acetal top on my block. Is it safe to go ahead and add, or no?
 
when testing my loops i ran straight distilled. it should be ok as long as you limit sunlight and avoid priming with your mouth... no matter how tempting it may be;)

now i have fluid xp+ (well 3 32oz. bottles on standby) works fine and when my loop took a shit on its self during the switch to koolance compression fittings, nothing fried. worth it IMO. oh and the leak was my fault... i forgot to cinch the NB fitting on the tube and pumped the entire loop out. computer was not powered though.

there is a strange cloudy buildup in the last inch of the fluid of my fill line but the loop is clear. it almost looks like tiny flakes.

That's my current loop at home. Straight distilled... And my water looks honestly like milk. It's been 8 months.

Now, I don't care as my temperatures havn't changed in the slightest, but it's still gross.

(But the white colour glows pink under my red CCFLs, so it's actually sorta nice!).
 
Bong water - but for some reason the computer slows down and doesn't want to perform scheduled tasks. At least my Phish MP3s sound great. ;)

I use de-ionised water from my local garage and WATER WETTER! :eek:

That's right, I've been using water wetter for years and never had any problems with gunk like people on internet forums go on about. I tried de-ionised water on it's own once and that fairly quickly (in watercooling terms) went browny and murky looking.

And when I have to swap out parts, I always keep my existing water in a saucepan and then put it back into the loop when I'm done via a kitchen funnel padded with kitchen paper. :p

There's probably 'parts' of my water that's been around for over 3-4 years now.
 
is there such a thing as "too much" uv dye?

I have a 10ml vial of alien green from Petras, and it looks good using clear tubing, but I only used about 1/2 of the vial, but my loop has about 1 liter of fluid! So my loop has < 0.5% UV dye. Can I add the other 5 ml? Can I add more?
