what was your video card history like?

Matrox G200 ~(1998?)
Voodoo 5 PCI
GF3 Ti 200
GF4 Ti 4800SE (aka higher clocked 4400)
Radeon 9500np -> Softmodded to 9700
6800GT
6800Ultra
7800GT
(2) 8800GT's
(2) 260GTX (core 216's)
(2) 460GTX ~(September 2010)

ATI rage 128 :D used this and the one below with a 750 MHz slot A athlon
Geforce 2 mx
radeon xpress 200 (used onboard for a few months)
evga 6600gt (died after about 3 1/2 years)
evga 8600gt

ATI Rage 128 (?) time frame fuzzy.

Diamond S3 Savage

3dfx Voodoo2

3dfx Voodoo5 5500 (Kept this running 2 years on hacked drivers after Nvidia cherry picked 3dfx and the company entered bankruptcy)

PNY Ti-4600 (Great chip, but the first one lasted 15 days, second 11 months. Last PNY product owned)

ATI 9700 (filled in for the Ti-4600's, now in a nephew's linux box)

XFX Geforce 6800 (Replaced the Voodoo5, was a solid card, assasinated it so wife agree it was time to upgrade)

ATI XT1950 (last ATI branded PCB card owned, still running today in a friend's box)

EVGA 8800 GTS (I keep this now as my emergency backup card. Great company)

XFX Alpha Dog 8800 GT (successor to the 6800, died of natural causes three weeks ago, honest :D ,didn't bother to try RMA.)

Sapphire 4870 - 1gb (moved to the No.2, to replace the dawg, I really love this card, but to be honest, it's not looking good for it's survival past tax time ;) )

Sparkle GTX460 - 1gb (my newest toy)

Still have the Voodoo5 in a box with an IBM XT, several sets of DOS and an old Wing Commander game for no discernable reason. :D

BFG 6200OC <- pretty decent upgrade from the integrated graphics I was running with my old p4.

Dell OEM 3450 <- came in a cheap dell; decent improvement from the 6200, but I had nothing but driver issues. I 'upgraded' to a 9500gt 3 days later.

BFG 9500gt <- Threw this into above cheap dell for an astounding upgrade (I could actually play modern games, yay!)

EVGA gtx 460 <- Gently installed this one into above cheap dell along with a corsair 400cx psu (not gently installed, the long stiff cables were a nightmare in that mATX case) for under 200$ (I hoard newegg coupons, yes) a few days after launch. I am pretty sure I could not stop shedding tears of joy over the VAST improvement.

Geforce4 MX 440
XFX 7800 GTX 256 (still in my closet... paid $499 new)
8800 GT
2x 8800GT's
GTX 260

aaaand that's it. I still can't believe I paid what I did for that 7800 GTX.

I used many cards
first was Hercules monochrome
tried Matrox - nice one back in the day
Viper550
then fell in love with Nvidia
now ATI is my fav.

Nvidia Vanta 8MB AGP - Included in a purchased Gateway AMD Athlon

Cant remember the name of ISA cards I had before TNT M64. But here my list.

Geforce TNT M64 (Lost)
Radeon 9500 pro (Failed to softmod to 9700) (Also still the biggest leap by far) (Sold)
Radeon 9700 AIW (Sold)
Radeon X1600 PRO (Sold and bought x850xt PE)
Sapphire X850XT PE AGP (Gave to friend because my new board don't support AGP. He was still using on board Intel chip for Guild Wars. :()
XFX Geforce 8800GT Alpha Dog (Died few days ago and waiting on RMA, hopefully a nice upgrade.)

X850 XT PE was the last card I even bother overclocking.
Never bought any of those for more than $180.
If the RMA replacement is not a big upgrade... Most likely will buy a new one next year. Long over due.

integrated -> 9800pro -> x800 pro -> 1950 cf -> 8800gtx -> 4870 x2 -> 5970 / 6870 cf

I like reminiscing about my old video cards. Counting just "3D Accelerators":

1998: 4MB Diamond Monster Voodoo1
2000: 64MB Radeon (when it was just called "Radeon" with no # because this was the first)
2001: 64MB Radeon 8500
2004: 128MB 9600XT
2004: 256MB 9800Pro
2006: 512MB Radeon X1900XTX
2006: 512MB Radeon X1950XTX (Ran this and the prior one in Xfire... was not the wisest purchase)
2008: 1024MB Radeon HD 4870
2008: 2048MB Radeon HD 4870X2 (Replaced 4870 after a month... still using it couldn't be happier)

ATi Xpert@Play '98 8mb PCI
Visiontek GF2 GTS 32mb
PNY GF4 Ti4200 64mb
Gigabyte X800XT 256mb
XFX 8600GT 256mb
EVGA 8800GS 384mb
XFX HD5770 1gb
XFX HD5870 1gb

The 8600GT was probably my most underwhelming purchase. Sold it after just a few months. The 8800GS was a huge upgrade and lasted until I finally upgraded to a Dell 2209WA from an old Samsung 17" panel. I'm rocking a HD5870 now that should last for quite some time.

S3 trio?
Riva 128
Voodoo 2 12mb
Ati radeon 32mb
Radeon 9800pro
