will start to max out a q9300 setup? I really have no need to upgrade my pc, but my video card just died which was a 8800GTX.

Any ideas what single card will give me the best performance for games. (ati or nvidia...) Doesn't matter.

What is your budget?

It's going to be difficult to determine at what point exactly your Q9300 would become a bottleneck. That would depend greatly on what games you play, what resolution you run at, and numerous other factors.

I think something like a 6870 would be a good fit but that is a pretty vague recommendation without knowing more information.
 
Regardless of your processor, a faster card is a faster card. The fastest cards you could have are the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 and AMD Radeon HD 6970. That fact aside there are some considerations. The first of which is your budget. It doesn't matter if a GeForce GTX 580 is super fast if you can't afford one, or are unwilling to spend the cash on one. What you can get for your money varies quite a bit by price point. The next consideration is your monitor's resolution. What resolution your monitor is capable of makes a huge difference with regard to what's needed for good performance. There is no sense in dropping a $500.00 for a video card and connecting it to a monitor that can only do 1680x1050. Finally the games you play are a factor. Again there is no sense dropping $500.00 on a video card that will only get used to play outdated games or games that aren't particularly demanding.
 
Yup as said.......whats your budget and what games do you want to play?

The GTX 560 is looking really good right now and SLI down the line will net some amazing performance.

My 460's overclocked can run anything i throw at it
 
I really dont play any games anymore. I just like having a card just in case i do if that make sense. But when i do play:

TF2 @ max settings
World Of Warcraft @1900x ma res and setting
The Next Planetside when it comes out.

So pretty much nothing in the last year, but i do have Team Fortress 2 And WoW installed for boring days and like those settings cranked up.

Budget. I dont think i have a budget really.. just nothing insane like over $200??
