i need a video card to run WoW well... good amount of details turned up at 1024x768

agp card.. i've looked for recommended system reqs.. couldnt find any

The one you have right now should do just fine. WoW isn't very demanding... just make sure you lower the draw radius :)... you don't want it to draw the whole world, right?

im sorry.. hehe this isnt for me ;p

cheapest is best.. but it needs decent picture quality

even with the draw distance set to max, it doesnt draw that far...

9600 xt would do fine for wow

get a 6600 GT AGP when they come out..

or try a used 5900 or a 9800 pro.

either of the 3 are good.

btw.. comptown is selling 6800 regulars for 200 after rebate on the 26th. check hot deals/ black friday section for details.

i'd think that your 9700pro should do the job jsut fine unless you really wanna crank up the aa and af

any thing cheaper then a 9800Pro is a step back soo.. your looking at spending a min of $200 for a new card

good lord, people, he said its not for him....

i would recommend the 9600XT or a 9800 Pro. Whichever fits the price tag more. I would def. go for the 9800 Pro over the 9600XT because its not THAT much more, and there will be a performance difference that is pretty large.

a 9600XT is a step back from a 9700 get the 9800Pro or wait for the 6600GT in AGP is the best bet

look heres the deal any thing cheaper then a 9800Pro and youll be getting a slower card then you already have 9700 is a good card about on par with a 9600XT if your not willing to speed 200 or more on a new card you may want to look in to overclocking your 9700 other then that just stay put with what you have and wait it out and save up for a AGP 6600GT

edit just to let you know a 9800Pro / 9600XT / 6600GT are all in the same price range

and CompUSA will have the 6800nu for $200 after rebates on Black Friday

Well, I play WoW beta; and one of my party members has a 1GHz P3, and a Geforce 2 GTS 64Mb. He's higher level than me too, so I guess that doesn't really impair gameplay. Although, he probably turned off all the rendering options. And, yes, if you want semi-decent graphics and no lag; 9600xt or 5900xt is your friend.

Hey nytrackstar, you might want to change your signature to be shorter before a mod does it for you. They only want people to use about 5-7 lines tops.

10 lines in 800x600 (he's still over the limit)

I've been running my 9600xt for a week at 1280/1024 nicely with 50fps average.

Well, I was running it.... After the VPU recover thingy coming up friday-saturday it died on sunday at around noon. However, I put in a backup bfg 5200 ultra an the damn game looks way better then with the 9600xt! 1024/768 with the 5200 is much better somehow...

It's all good though as I can now RMA it for a new card as it's under warranty.

If your friend can go for the cheapest 6800 he can find, it will be great. Otherwise a 9600xt will be good for WoW.

rather bold claims with no backup....
