I appreciate your help with my decision. I am not an expert but I'm pretty sure the specs for my system are not up to par with an outrageous card. Just want some help with a good card to buy for $250 - $350 that plays all the goods... ie: (HL2 / WOW).. My 9800 pro does great but I just purchased new LCD and want to take full advantage.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'd stick with the 9800 personally and just wait til the next round of cards before I made a purchase if I were in your shoes. Save your money, and spend it when you can upgrade the whole thing.

should i just assume to upgrade the mo/chipset instead and then go ahead and buy a video card? any suggestions on mo/chip for that price range?

If you feel like spending money, check out some of the 939 boards and A64 processors (ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe & Athlon64 3500+ is a good start).

But to echo what pr0zac has already stated, your current machine is fine for the games you play and your new LCD. Save your money for next year.
 
I agree with the previous guys posting. I also recommend you wait a little while until something new comes out that will suit your needs.
 
yeah..like everyone else says.....save enough money and get everything next time...but if you reall have to, 6800nu or 6800gt
