What use does this connector serve ?

Its for the VIVO functions (Video in, Video out). Specifically, the audio, I do believe.

It's Video ONLY :)

edit:

I should have clicked the image link first :). Looks like one of them CD audio connectors :p

so what cord do I need to get and where does it plug into on the motherboard? I have always been interested in this same connector.

Hello mohammedtaha,

I had the same question about that connector on an ASUS AX800PRO/TVD/N/256M/A card. I searched in vain for an answer and so I emailed ASUS technical support. Here is my question and their reply:

[Problem Description]
! Hello,

I recently purchased an AX800PRO/TVD/N/256M/A and noticed two connectors on the rear of the
card. I know that one is for power and connected it to the power supply properly.

The second connector looks like it might be for a sound cable. I have searched all of your manuals
and FAQ's and nowhere is its function documented.

What is the purpose of this second connector and how is it used?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Dear Sir or Madam:

Thank you for contacting ASUS Customer Service. My name is Bruce and I would like to help you out with your problem.

My friend , please don't care about it . Formerly , our R&D designed it to realize the VIVO . But at last , we integrated the VIVO function to the card . So , that interface is useless . The latest product has removed this interface .
Good luck ! : )

Sorry for any inconvenience brought to you in this respect. If you have any more questions, please feel free to tell me. I will do my best to help you!
Thank you again for using ASUS products and services!

I believe I read elsewhere that the connector was originally designed for a front-panel VIVO connection. Apparently, it was never implemented.

Hope that helps,

Bob McP
