what to use to keep icons from moving when updating video driver?

Guys,

on XP Prof, is there something I can use to restore my icon placement after a video card driver update?

Its a work machine and is a pain to move them back into the correct places, and sometimes dont.

take a screenshot so you can drag the icons back in place

If I had to guess, it's because by default, drivers put your screen back down to 800x600, so your icons resort themselves to stay on your screen.

But this would be just a split second, then it detects your monitor and preferred resolution, and changes accordingly. But your icons were already moved.
