What To Upgrade?

My birthday is in a few weeks and I've been asked by family members what I wanted. Besides a few XBox games I don't really need anything else besides maybe a couple upgrades for my computer.

My specs are:

Antec SLK3700AMB Case W/ 350W PSU
AMD Athlon XP "Barton" 2500+ (stock speeds - can't seem to OC, stock cooling)
DFI Ultra Infinity
1x512MB Mushkin DDR400 CL 2.5-4-4 (At DDR333 because of stock AthlonXP speeds)
bbATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Western Digital 80GB 7200rpm
NEC 8X DVD+RW/-RW 2500A
Onboard sound

I play a lot of games and right now Doom 3 runs fairly OK on high settings at 1024x768.

Do I really need to upgrade anything? I'm thinking the next big upgrade I'm going to get is going to be almost a completely new computer (new PCI-E motherboard & CPU) but I don't know. That wont be for a long while.

Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks in advance.

This isn't a bad system. Especially you have a good video card which will hold out for a while yet. It might not hurt to put a better hsf on that cpu if you want to try to OC it more, that stock crap doesn't do much. However, as far as any REAL upgrades go, the only major thing you seem to need is maybe a newer mb. Modern motherboards will let you set the memory to a different speed from the FSB so that CPUs don't limit the memory as much. You might also consider a real soundcard since only a very few onboard audio chips are truly worth bothering with. Your CPU is probably basically ok for now as even Doom 3 will run on a P4 with 1.4GHz and I think I read that Half-life 2 is to have an even lower CPU requirement.

EDIT: Oh, and btw, you might consider one of the mobiles if you do upgrade that CPU. They are factory unlocked, so no careful work with a magnifier and one of those kits. Makes ocing a dream too. At least, if you don't screw up your mb like someone here did... *sigh* It looks like 12.5x is the highest multiplier you can set though -- at least, on this one. I believe the others work the same way, but I could be wrong easily since I've only played with a 2200+ in addition to this.

Maybe more memory, but it's a pretty good setup otherwise. Ask for cash and you'll have a headstart on a new system :D

Alright cool. Two of the same type of response is good enough for me. Thanks guys.
