Ok, I am getting pissed off with the cooling of my 3200+

I frist had a Thermaltake silentboost on it and it said it could handle a 3200+ but the computer kept shutting off because the CPU was getting too hot (95*C)...

Then I figured a watercooling solution might do better and would finally allow me to play games without loseing it half way through. So I ordered an Evercool WC something that is one of those watercooling kits.

Anyway, the computer wont even boot becuase the processor gets too hot and shuts down before I even get into windows.

I am at my wits end and just want a freaking heatsink that will cool my 3200+ enough so I can play games without it overheating.

At first I wanted a silent solution but now I dont care anymore and just want something that can keep the CPU below 70*C

70c on a 3200+ dude thats over the highest reccomended, im guessing is that your chip is a dead, b your not applying thermal paste c your and idiot or d the heatsink is only touching some of the core

before you call me an idoit learn to puntcuate and spell correctly.

however, I was concerned that for some reason in my bios now the 3200+ was only showing up as 1.1ghz.
Is this a sign that its dead?

xbreaka, dont bother to answer that, go thread crap somewhere else.

i was giving some good advice, but aparently u didn't catch the humor if it hit 90c then id say its injured if its acting all weird in bios then yes its prob dead, try taking it out and looking at it for burn marks etc

ive looked at it and it didnt appear cracked or anything. Nor did it smell (got some AS on my nose too)

Im going to try putting the thermaltake back in at least to get into windows to troubleshoot some stuff.

What is a cooler that I should buy to put on this 3200+ so it doesnt fry it.

dude i have the 3200+ and i use the coolermaster aero 7+ on it..it works perfectly..i idle at like 46-47c and load at like 51-52c..not to mention the fan is sideways giving direct airflow onto the CPU DIE (the hottest part of the AMD cpus) rather than on the outside area of the cpu where its a few degrees cooler. If you look at any normal cpu fan..where are the blades attached to? the center of the fan where no airflow is..which makes this cpu fan perfect..

all of those are crap, a thermalright slk-900a combined witha good 92mm fan will beat all of those pos's

man Im not looking to overclock or do anything at all. All I want is something that is going to keep the CPU cool enough to play generals or Empires without it overheating and causeing the computer to shutdown.

will either of thoes 2 do that for me? I think they will.

lol i agree man. death to the thermaltake silent boost!

seriously tho, just get a thermalright instead... i'm not biased, i have a thermaltake psu that is very good :)

Nicely Done, lol. Either the chip is dead, or you don't know how to put a heatsink on
