i just had a gtx660 die on me , its 15months old, came from the egg w/ 3 yr. limited mfg. warranty.
it was a dedicated folding card and at sometimes may have been run a little hot,low 90's.
is it worth my trouble to try to get gigabyte to replace/repair it?
is it a hassle dealing w/gigabyte on returns?

I have RMA'd more than one Gigabyte card, fairly painless other than waiting shipping there and back. The last one was a 7950 and I had a brand new one in my hands in less than 2 weeks.

150$ is still 150$

Worst case is you sell the card you get back.

I RMA'd my GTX 770 to Gigabyte twice for coil whine (even with vysnc/frame limiter on). The first RMA they updated the BIOS on the card, which obviously didn't fix it. The second time they sent me a refurb card with the same exact issue. Turnaround time was 4 weeks each time. You'll wait days to get a useless response from their email support, much better to call in their phone support, though that's not all that great either. The guy I talked to sounded like a clueless 16 year old kid. I decided it would be pointless to RMA again so I took the hit and sold the card and bought an Asus 7970 on a really good sale ($268, off topic but I'm very happy with it, just as fast as the 770 and way cheaper).

The world may end, or California may break off into the ocean. Just saying, that might happen if you RMA to Gigabyte.

I RMA'd a motherboard many moons ago to those guys, and was pleasantly surprised by the level of service and the fact that they did indeed return a fixed motherboard (broken caps). This was around 2002, so I'm sure your mileage may vary, and they may not be the same.
