Hello brilliant minds of [H]!

I recently gained access to roughly 30Gbps bandwidth from a rock solid US datacenter for 12 hours a day. I'm not a network admin by any stretch of the imagination and was curious to know what could be done with a connection like this?

Obviously nothing illegal or grey (ahem, tor relays)
 
For only 12 hours a day? Not sure what you could really do with that since it's not 24/7...
 
Just because you have access to it doesn't mean that you have the right to use it for you're personal benefit. Seeing as it is only available for 12 hrs a day and you are not a network admin I say just forget about it.

That is a total of six cents, thank you for contributing.

Like I said we (the company I work for) are collectively brainstorming for cool things to do with our box while the load is low, not moral coaching.
 
Giant porn downloader? If you have even 100Mbs for 24/7 that would open up a lot of possibilities but since it's only 12 hours.... kinda useless.

Ok, I'll play this game.

If you would have posted more information; specifically regarding that you are collectively brainstorming which is not in the original post, then we could have given you better examples. Also as most of us work in the industry we know the typical rules against private use of company resources. If you don't post that you own the equipment then we are going to chastise you for abusing a company's resources. I won't even get into the argument that you're server doesn't do 30Gbps, nor would your hosting provider allow you to utilize the full amount without paying out the ass.

My original post still stands. You're hosted server performs a specific function, if you only have 12 hours a day to run something else without effecting load of the server. Your best bet is to either rent/purchase a second server or let it be and do nothing.

Sell the bandwidth to someone who needs it during off-peak. Maybe Netflix will lease it off you.
