I currently have a viewsonic VP191b and its starting to show its age. I've had my eye on a 22-24 panel for a while now but I'm very picky. At the time the VP191b was the best 19" lcd and as I recall maybe one of the first spva screens?? (I'm not sure). With that said I have 2 options I'm considering;

Dell 2209WA - I can get this for $200 through today (coupons expire tomorrow)
Dell 2408WFP - I can use Amex points and get this for about $200 out of pocket

Unforunately I can't use amex points on the 2209 because its only available on the business site and points aren't accepted.

I guess what I'm asking is do I just get the 2209 and be done with it or blow my amex points on the 2408 and if I do will I be happy I did?

If I could get some comments and opinions that would be great, especially from those of you who have upgraded from a good 19" lcd to one of these models.

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Dell 2408WFP is wide gamut, which means a lot of trouble. I'd go for Dell 2209WA.

I guess it depends on your requirements:

If you really want 1080p (and higher) resolution and want to use the monitor with consoles, the 2408WFP is likely a better choice. But it has about 33ms average input lag which hinders it for those hardcore FPS type players. This manifests itself in a mouse cursor that clearly follows your hand.

If you are an avid PC gamer and play a lot of hardcore multiplayer first-person-shooter type games, the 2209WA is leagues better for two reasons:

1) Low input lag
2) Ability to work at 1680x1050@75hz which is unique.

Biges is right though. If you are very particular about color accuracy, the wide-gamut characteristic of the 2408WFP will show you highly over saturated colors, particularly green and red.

Thanks for the input I just pulled the trigger on the 2209WA, no free shipping (it was over the weekend) but still a great deal.... 233 after tax
